We were immediately struck by the grandeur the townhouse at Ridderstraat 6 exuded, even though many authentic features were still hidden behind false walls or ceilings. In a way, it was perhaps fortunate that nothing had been altered over the decades. Following a thorough renovation lasting almost three years, we have transformed this stately

townhouse into a luxury boutique B&B.

In the meantime, many guests have already had the pleasure of experiencing the splendour and grandeur that the building exudes.

During the renovation, the focus was on finding authentic features that would do full justice to the mansion.

One of the most successful projects was the installation of iconic murals that we found at Isidore Leroy, a French wallpaper company founded in 1842. They produce high-quality French wallpapers that transform a room into a work of art with their designs. We immediately fell in love with the panoramic landscapes, which strike a balance between history and modernity in that exude both refinement and eclecticism, created by artist-designers.

The French forests creating depth in the guest room ‘De Ramont’

We have chosen a panoramic view of the French forests around Paris for our guest room ‘De Ramont’. This was partly due to the colour palette, but mainly because it adds a sense of depth to the room, elevating its ambience to a higher level.

This panorama, transports us to the great French state forests. Months of meticulous work inspired by the historic estates often depicted by 18th- and 19th-century artists. Fontainebleau, Chantilly, Compiègne, Rambouillet… castles and beautiful residences are not far away. a perfect match with the buildings history.

‘La Campagne’ brings a sense of calm to the staircase

In the staircase on the first floor, we have opted for the panoramic "Campagne" setting, a large bucolic meadow on the edge of the river to recharge your batteries in the shade of the tall trees. This poetic, calm and soothing landscape was created by Martine Dubreucq and Isabelle Parmentier. The work was done by hand using a grisaille technique with a pen and pencils. Here, too, the mural adds depth to the space.

A Mediterranean touch in the kitchen

Our last addition is a panoramic landscape of Provence to the kitchen, capturing the summer season. The lavender adds a playful touch of colour to the space. The cypress trees make you dream of balmy evenings in the south of France. Here too, the mural adds a new dimension to one of the most beautiful rooms in the property.
